Our latest work, a three-part series titled The Living Wall, explores our continued obsession with wood. The depth and beauty of the natural wood is a testament to nature’s artistry with its engaging grain patterns, warm colour variations, unique textures and captivating imperfections.
It is a statement piece to be sure, but there is something extraordinary about bringing a uniquely authentic work of art into your space. This one brings with it, the warmth, peace and tranquility of a walk in the woods. This powerful connection with nature does wonders for the soul.
The wood was sourced from a diverse selection of fallen trees including cottonwood, black walnut, Manitoba maple, ambrosia maple, cherry and oak.
One viewer suggested that she is reminded of a walk in the forest soaking in the serenity and wisdom of the trees.
Another suggested that the lovely green tones in the piece reminded her of her favourite, Castelvetrano olives, which are known for their beautiful colour and a sublime flavour that feels like a warm ray of sunshine or the first breath of fresh air.
We stood back upon its completion and thought it replicated a living wall, only better. It comes without the required watering schedule.
The uniquely patterned cotton wood comes from a farm in Elgin county. Isabel and her late husband bought the 100 acres in the 1980s. Today Isabel is known for her free range chickens, massive vegetable gardens, delicious Elderberry pies and her love of breeding Bobwhite quails.
